Sweeping 1880's action photograph of a high level college baseball game taking place at Wesleyan College in Connecticut. Although the opponent is unknown, the image is a slice of baseball history showing among other things, the umpire being positioned behind the pitcher, and the pitcher throwing from a box and not a mound (making it concretely before 1893). We believe based on the style of photography and mount that this dates to about 1885. An incredible piece of photography with exact clarity for action photographs of the era which are VERY rare! The condition and quality are both nice making this a perfect 10/10!
