1934 Photograph of Lou Gehrig crossing home plate after belting a home run against the Japanese team during their world tour. Scoring just ahead of Gehrig is the familiar figure of Babe Ruth having just touched home himself and heading toward the dugout, a step ahead of Gehrig. Despite some wear and creasing, the image presents pretty well and is possibly unique. In our research we can find no other examples of this photo in any form! Despite the condition issues, the photo is absolutely off the original negative and is exceptionally clear, especially at the players foot area which seems to have been the focal point for the photographer. There are some faded pencil notations on the back that clearly identify Ruth and Gehrig as well as the date of December 1934 as well. Scrapbook paper on the back remains untouched but can easily be removed if the new buyer wishes.
