The most underrated photograph of WWII has to be Bert Brandt. He braved the first wave of D-Day and was able to get his photographs sent back before anyone else (including Robert Capa who gets all the credit). He stayed with the allied forces as they advanced through France and took some of the most touching and poignant images of the war, but to little fanfare for some reason. The offered image is an absolute masterpiece of war photography, showing a lone yankee soldier named Gordon Conroy standing in the famed hall of mirrors at Versailles. Brandt was one of the only men to take artistic liberties in the middle of a war and this photo captures his skill like few others of the entire conflict. Issued by Acme and stamped on the back with a full paper caption as well. An absolute beauty!
