Large 1927 double weight silver gelatin photograph of Notre Dame legendary head coach Knute Rockne, posing proudly with his captain John "Clipper" Smith in uniform at the ballpark. Smith would become an All American in 1927 and Rockne would again lead his team to a spectacular season. Despite having a hard crease on the lower right (reinforced on the back with tape) and some pinholes, the images of Rockne and Smith are perfect and the back is stamped by the original photographer. Quite possibly a unique survivor, this is one of the finest images of Rockne we have ever handled!
