It was no secret that the Yankees always wanted Hank Greenberg. They offered him a contract in 1929 but Hank turned it down, knowing who the Yankees already had over there! When Lou Gehrig was diagnosed with ALS in 1939, the courtship began again! The Yankees made sure in 1943 when Hank was playing in an exhibition game to support the War Effort that he felt the pinstripes on his back, probably in an attempt to lure the slugger to the Bronx when the War ended! The offered image is a rare opportunity to see what could have been with Greenberg playing for the Yankees. Dated on the back 8-25-1943 and with a full paper caption and date stamp from NEA, this is a beautiful photo and an instant conversation piece. Condition is very nice with just mild handling wear.
