J. Stuart Blackton more than just about anyone in the film industry was the true pioneer of motion pictures as a money making art form. He was the first to use stop motion and animation as well as founding the first studio in 1897! His fame faded and here he was in 1935 back behind a camera but this time at a salary of $52 per month basically shooting documentaries! This is the ONLY image of Blackton we have ever handled and it is an exceptionally rare piece of film history!
