Large 1924 photograph of black Heavyweight Champion of the World Harry Wills as he signs a contract to fight Bartley Madeen which he hoped would be a tune up for Jack Dempsey and a shot at the title. He would never get the shot despite being the best fighter in the world. Issued by the International News and in great shape with a full paper caption as well, this is a poignant reminder of the racism in sports nearly 100 years ago!
