In one of the first instances where a sports contract was photographed for publication, here we see the original signed and executed contract between the controversial black Heavyweight Champion of the World Jack Johnson and his "Great White Hope" challenger Jim Flynn. It is absolutely certain that this was photographed to illustrate the huge payday for Johnson who was hated for being black and was set to get thirty thousands bucks for the bout! Issued by Underwood and Underwood and stamped on the back, this is an amazing piece of boxing history in great shape!
