Original 1941 photograph of Hall of Famer Hank Greenberg as he reported for military duty the day after being sworn in. Initially the date would catch you off guard (May 16, 1941) as Pearl harbor had not happened yet and America was not officially at war, but Greenberg was that kind of guy. He left his baseball job and reported for duty after volunteering for the draft and agreeing to serve his country. A rare photo in great shape, this is one of only a handful of original 1941 images picturing Greenberg in uniform we have seen!
