Three years before track superstar Steve Prefontaine would be killed in a car crash in Oregon, this photo was eerily titled "Never Say Die" as Prefontaine won the 3000 meter race in Oslo, Norway. One of the most important athletes of his era, this is a rare early image of him wearing a "USA" jersey and equally rare that he actually lost a race at this event! Condition is fantastic.
