The 1941 season has gone down in history as perhaps the greatest of all time. It featured a tight pennant race, and two young stars who not only burst onto the scene, but created moments that would last forever, Joe DiMaggio hit in a record 56 consecutive games and Ted Williams became the last to bat .400 (.406). Here the two men pose before the start of a game and talk batting, each with their bat in hand in front of the dugout. This has gone down as perhaps the finest image of the pair together during the 1941 season and this is a rare original off the negative that presents beautifully. Despite being issued a few years later (1950's) the photo has a completely vintage feel to it, making it one of the best examples known to exist!
