In 1926 Ty Cobb had to have risky eye surgery, which sounds horrific considering the medical techniques of the time, and it was worried he would never be the same. Instead, he went about his business and put together another amazing season. What is incredible about this photograph is Cobb had only been discharged from the hospital about a week earlier and immediately reported to spring training with some dark sunglasses to go about his business! Issued by the International News and stamped on the back, images of Cobb from this event are rare with this being one of the best.
