"Tubby" Spencer was a deadball era star in the era of baseball cards like T206. Despite being popular for a short period of time, images of the catcher are actually quite tough to find with this being one of only a handful we know of. This example dated to around 1915-1917 based on the NEA box stamp on the back and it presents beautifully with Spencer showing off his catching form. He played for the Tigers, Phillies, Red Sox and Browns with this image capturing him in Tigers uniform. Likely the only example of this photo that exists and it presents here in great shape overall.
