One of the most important films of the early 1920's was without a doubt "The Covered Wagon" which was an epic western chronicling the plight of Oregon Trail pioneers. The film utilized a huge budget and thousands of extras in its production among them being several authentic Native Americans. This rare photograph was taken by a tourist in California that happened to stop by (in 1922) during the filming and took a photograph of the Native Americans in full dress (not costumes) during a break in the action. Eleven are pictured and this film still exists so these actors could almost certainly be pinpointed in the movie. This is from a collection of about fifty images from the studio tour of one young lady in 1922 and it is being offered here for the first time ever!
