1971 Was a turning point for Hall of Famer Willie Mays. It was his last season as a full time player, his last to lead the league in an offensive category, and the signal of the end. This image was taken by local bay area photographer Russ Reed who must have known that his chances to photograph the greatest player of his era were coming to an end. The offered photo shows Mays in the on-deck circle ready for one more chance to hang onto the game he loved. Condition and quality are both outstanding.
