1947 Photograph of one of the most famous plays in the history of the World Series. Al Gionfriddo (a part time Dodger) robbed Joe DiMaggio of a Home Run and saving (for the time being) the World Series for the Dodgers. The play prompted "Joltin Joe" to show some emotion on the field for the first time in his career as he kicked dirt on his way back to the dugout. Photo is a slightly later re-strike (c. 1958) but it is a rare original from the United Press and stamped on the back with a full paper caption as well.
