1944 Portrait photograph of Negro League legend Theolic Smith in uniform. He was a huge star from 1936-1954 and finished with a 120-91 record in the Negro Leagues along with hundreds of other wins in various other leagues. One of his greatest images showing the strain of playing for inferior teams despite being one of the top pitchers in all of baseball, he seems to be feeling the strain of racism and playing beneath his talent level for nearly a decade! A poignant image of one of the top Negro League pitchers of his era.
