1911 Photograph of the All Star team assembled to play against the Cleveland Indians to benefit the family of recently deceased Addie Joss. This was the first "All Star Team" in baseball history and it has gone down in history as one of the most important photographs ever taken. Ty Cobb could not find a jersey so he borrowed one from a Cleveland player and the team also included Walter Johnson, Eddie Collins, Sam Crawford and others. While this is a restrike, it has significant age to it and silvering in spots that can only happen with photographic styles long since disappeared. The age of the paper 9cracking of the gelatin at the corners) along with the silvering lead us to the conclusion that this is a c. 1940's example. One of the earliest examples of this image we have ever handled.
