1956 Posed action photograph of young University of San Francisco big man Bill Russell in full uniform. One of the greatest basketball pioneers of all time, he was the first black superstar and one of the top players to ever play the game. This is a spectacular image issued by the University of San Francisco News Bureau in great condition. One of the finest images of Bill Russell that we have ever seen in any form and one that pre-dates his rookie basketball card by two full years. Please note this image is a bit fuzzy but this is primarily due to the camera used, the speed of action and the depth it was taken at. If you look at the ball (which was the only stationary object in the fame and the closest to the camera) it is clear which is a huge indicator that this is from the original negative and not a re-shot!
