1936 Photograph of the current Heavyweight Champion of the World James J. Braddock and the man who would take the title from him a short time later Joe Louis. The two were suspected to be in talks for a bout, but many thought Braddock should protect his title from Louis and refuse to fight him rather than risk losing it to another black man and create a situation like Jack Johnson dealt with a generation earlier. Braddock would indeed grant a fight to Louis, and lose. The offered image is one of the first of the two fighter together and this is a fine example from Acme and with a full paper caption on the back. Condition is pretty nice overall with note to some extra paper on the bottom border that can be removed.
