Early c. 1902 tintype photograph of boxer Fred Cooley in a formal pose. Obtained from his family estate, this is a fantastic piece of photography pictured in the original paper frame it was found in. Cooley killed himself in 1935 and left one of the most tragic suicide notes of any fighter, "I'm tired of it all. I'm going to take one last shot. If I miss, I've failed again." He id not miss. Despite never being a title holder, he fought over 40 times between 1902-1910 and battled some big names like Jack O'Brien, Frank Moran, Hugo Kelly and Jim Flynn. A unique piece of boxing history!
