Easily one of the most iconic images of pre-war baseball Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson is this head to toe shot capturing the young phenom in uniform at the ballpark with hands raised above his head as he simulates his wind-up for the primitive photography equipment of the day. The youthful glow and exuberance resonate from Matty in this photo that was taken shortly after he became a member of the Major Leagues. This early career image (attributed to 1901) is one of only a handful of this pose that exist with this particular example dating from the early 1930's. Off the original negative and crystal clear, this is a nearly perfect example!
