One of the most recognizable images ever taken shows a rag tag group of Marines as they raise an American Flag over Mount Suribachi on the island of Iwo Jima during WWII (1945). Taken by an Associated Press photographer named Joe Rosenthal, the seemingly innocuous image would change the face of the war for Americans back home and stand as a symbol of American courage to this day. The offered image is a beautiful example restruck in the early 1960's and despite being a wire photo it has exceptional clarity and the condition is outstanding!
