Television is one of the most important daily innovations of all time and it is hard to imagine life without it. Before this public demonstration of a "television program", the thought of a box in your home streaming entertainment was completely foreign. While the idea had been around for a while and actual television sets had been displayed at fairs, this was the first "program" or "show" ever broadcast featuring entertainers and celebrities.
