Joe DiMaggio was regal and elegant on the field, also respected and adored by fans and fellow players. It is hard to imagine anyone questioning his honesty, but after he was hit by a pitch in a late season pennant race game between the Yankees and Indians, manager Lou Boudreau attempted to do the unthinkable... he called out DiMaggio as a faker! DiMaggio claimed he was hit by a pitch and when Boudreau came out to argue, he called out the Yankee Clipper and forced him to show his hand to him and the umpire. Satisfied with the spectacle, DiMaggio not only was awarded first base, but had to leave the game with a bruised hand. Issued by Wide World Photos and stamped on the back, this is a cool photo we have never seen before.
