The 1940 pennant race came down to the final games of the season with the Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers facing each other to decide it all. In the final two weeks the teams played each other six times. It would ultimately be the Tigers taking the pennant by one game! Here we see the young up and coming infield of the Indians led by Hall of Famer Lou Boudreau but also Ken Keltner, Hal Trosky and Ray Mack. A rare image in great shape that is one of the earliest images of Boudreau we have offered.
