1917 Photo of Benny Kauff, New York Giants superstar batting during Spring Training. Kauff is one of the most intriguing figures in the history of Baseball. He was dubbed "The Ty Cobb of the Federal League" after winning both Batting Titles in the two year old League and seemed to be among the top two or three players in all of Baseball. When this photo was taken in 1917-18 he was an average player who would soon be banished for life due to his scoundrel ways of living and the bad association he hung with. The image is possibly from Spring Training 1918 but he is wearing a 1917 Giants Away jersey for sure as they only used those for ONE year! This is one of the best Kauff images we have ever seen and it sold for $496 in our June 2014 Auction!
