1908 Dated photograph of William Howard Taft as he plays a round of golf. While this photo seems normal by todays standards, it was in fact quite a statement at the time. Taft was the first U.S. President to play golf (or at least admit it since it was viewed as a rich mans sport) and as such he was the first to be photographed with golf clubs. That being said, this is the earliest image of him golfing that exists. We sold other 1908 images of Taft golfing but this one is earlier, from before he was even elected to the Presidency later in the year! The quality of the image is nice with a chip off the left edge being the only flaw. Stamped on the back by the Gilliams Press Syndicate with the date as well.
