In 1932 Ernie Schaaf was knocked out and nearly killed by Max Baer. Six months later he fought Primo Carnera and was knocked out and killed in the ring. Here is the moment this happened as Carnera immediately recognized that something was wrong and he rushed to the fallen challenger to check on him. An incredible image, this is the only original example we have ever seen showing both fighters in the ring and especially with Carnera looming over his fallen opponent with compassion.
