After the 1937 the National League planned to unveil a new "dead ball" for game use as they felt the scales had tipped too far toward the batter and they wanted to level the playing field. In response to this, players changed their approaches to hitting, including Hall of Famer Paul Waner of the Pittsburgh Pirates who is seen here showing off his lighter bat he will unveil for the season. He normally used a huge 37 ounce bat despite being a small guy and was lightening up to a 34 ounce stick in 1938. Photo is a nearly perfect example that grades a 10/10 and has a stamp and full caption on the back by Wide World Photos.
