One of the toughest players of the 1920's to find quality images of is Leo "Gabby" Hartnett from the Chicago Cubs. He was a part-time player for most of the decade and never emerged as a true star until 1930, possibly leaving photographers to search elsewhere when chasing subject to take pictures of. Whatever the reasons may be, there are very few quality images of Hartnett that exist. The offered large portrait photograph from 1925 is easily among the best in the hobby and a true gem for a collector looking for a "Gabby" to add to their collection. Large and detailed with full white borders, Hartnett shows off his trademark smile for the NEA photographer who had the foresight to select Hartnett as his subject. Condition is very nice for the era making this a special piece all the way around.
