J. Monroe Sweeney is among the toughest of all Major league Baseball Umpires to find images of. He spent the better part of his life officiating Baseball Games but only at the Major League Level for three seasons (1923-26) giving photographers a short window to take images. This is in fact the ONLY image of Sweeney we have ever seen! Essentially a perfect condition photograph with some mild show-through of a back notation to the front when tilted to the light and a bold and clear photo. Issued by NEA and dated from Spring Training of 1924 (his first year with the National League).
