1916 Set of three game action photographs from the incredible second game of the World Series between the Boston Red Sox and the Brooklyn Robins which would be the first victory o the mound in a world series game for Babe Ruth! The set comes directly from a newspaper archive and there is a paper caption that came with the set that describes each image. First shows Scott of the Robins being tagged out at third. While it does not appear Babe Ruth is in the photo, he was the pitcher on the mound when this play happened! This second photo shows Hal Janvrin out on a close play at the plate for the Red Sox while the third photo is the gem as it shows the winning run being scored in the 14th inning for the Red Sox. The winning pitcher on this day was Babe Ruth and while it does not appear he is in any of the photos, it is still an important part of his history and legacy as he also knocked in the first run of the game! A nice lot of three photos and despite being stamped much later, these are not the work of Charles Conlon.
