Original c. 1912 batting photograph of outfielder Burt Shotton from the St. Louis Browns. He was a veteran who managed to hang onto a big league job from 1909-1922 but made a bigger name for himself as a coach and manager including the one who ushered in the breaking of the color barrier as the head of the 1947 Dodgers. Taken by Paul Thompson and stamped on the back, this is one of his earliest images.
