Exceptionally rare image of Frank J. "Lefty" O'Doul as a left handed pitcher for the New York Yankees in 1919. He would eventually pull a "Babe Ruth" and reinvent himself into one of the greatest hitters of his generation a decade later winning a couple of batting titles in spectacular fashion (batting .398 once)! After his career he furthered his own legendary status by being the greatest champion of the game of baseball to Japan that has ever lived. The offered image pictures young Lefty in full uniform with the Yankees and demonstrating his form for the camera. This is one of the earliest O'Doul images extant and it is stamped on the back by photographer Paul Thompson.
