Original 1922 action photograph from a game between the Chicago Union Giants of the Negro League and the House of David Team at Benton Harbor, Michigan. This is a unique image which has never before been seen or offered by the public and was recently discovered after nearly 100 years in an archive. Photo quality is crystal clear with tremendous detail. The House of David team is in the field while a Chicago Union Giants player is at bat. The hitter is a tall left handed batter which appears to be Cristobal Torriente and even has his signature open stance (but this is not confirmed). Photo has some creasing at the corners and a chip on the upper right. One of the earliest Negro League action photos in the World and an exciting new discovery! This photo sold for $2078 in our November 2014 auction!
