The 1948-49 Almendares club was one of the most dominant in the history of the Cuban Winter League, winning the title by a full eight games. Led by young superstar and future Hall of Famer Monte Irvin, the team also had young Hollywood actor Kevin (Chuck) Connors as well! The offered example is a double weight original that was issued at the close of the season as it declares the club as the champs! While the photo has some handling wear and a couple paper chips on the far left border, it presents well and is an early image of Irvin! Back also carries a really cool long ink notation as well.
