In one of the coolest yet never told stories of baseball history you will find an entire chapter on John Wright. Signed shortly after Jackie Robinson by the Montreal Royals, Wright was the first pitcher that broke the color barrier in organized baseball. He played for the Royals, was not selected to break the color barrier and then discarded back to the Negro Leagues, forgotten forever. The offered image captures Wright in uniform with the Grays during the moment it was announced that he had signed with the Dodgers (he actually signed a few months earlier).
