1938 Was an important year for the New York Yankees in several ways. They won the World Series once again, their fourth in the decade to solidify their place as one of the greatest teams in history, but in the process they said farewell to their leader Lou Gehrig as he would play in his final season as an active player. The team would win again the next season but 1938 was a "changing of the guard" for the Yankees as guys like Gehrig, Gomez, Ruffing, Dickey and others were reaching the end while youngsters like Joe DiMaggio, Joe Gordon, and Tom Henrich were just getting started! Taken by the Empire Photographers of New York, this is a clear and bold original in essentially perfect shape with some extra paper on the front from publication which could easily be removed. One of the better team photos of the Yankees we have offered.
