After he was diagnosed with ALS and his baseball career over, the great Yankee legend Lou Gehrig became a symbol of courage that America needed as it looked to its future. Nobody wanted to see Gehrig in a frail state and he was given a token job as a commissioner on the parole board by Mayor La Guardia of New York City. Here Gehrig is sworn into his new position with his wife by his side. Stamped on the back by the International News, this is a fine example that grades a perfect 10/10!
