Bill Killefer was a deadball era star that is largely forgotten today but would have been near the top of the list of "best catchers in baseball" about a hundred years ago. A mainstay in the National League from 1909-1921, he was the epitome of a defensive team leader that everyone wanted to have on their squad. Taken by photographer Charles Conlon and stamped on the back with his handwritten notes as well, this captures him as part of the National League champion Chicago Cubs.
