Miah Murray was an obscure major league baseball player from 1884-1891 but after his career ended, he remained a part of the game. In about 1905 when photographer Carl Horner of Boston was taking photographs of every prominent player and manager in the game of baseball, Murray found his way into the studio (in his home town) and had his picture taken with the stars of the diamond one last time. Looking dapper in formal dress, this is the only photograph of Murray we have ever seen and it is a beauty from Horner with a large amount of the original white mount remaining. His most famous image, this is the one used on most websites and in most books when Murray is pictured.
