1924 Photograph of Heavyweight Champion of the World Jack Johnson and his wife. He was one of the most controversial figures in 20th century America as he dared stand up to the racist establishment repeatedly. The final straw came when Johnson refused to keep his wedding to a white woman secret and for this he was exiled from America. Large and detailed silver gelatin photograph was issued by the International News and in conjunction of Johnson and his wife announcing they were filing for divorce. A rare photograph of the two in happier times and in great shape with a small purple stain on the far left side from publication. One of the more exciting images of Johnson we have offered in some time!
