1919 Photograph of Herold "Muddy" Ruel from the New York Yankees. Ruel actually began his career in 1915 but only had 19 games under his belt until 1919 which made this technically his rookie year. Ruel would go onto a fine career in the Major Leagues, mostly with the Washington Senators but here he is seen in uniform for the New York Yankees. Interesting photograph as Ruel is swinging an absolutely huge early baseball bat that had to be 40 inches long! Impressive photo and an instant gem for a bat collector!
