As Babe Ruth joined the National League in 1935, he entered into a new world of baseball. New ballparks, new fans, and he would be asked to face new pitchers as well. Here he meets the hottest young star in the game, Dizzy Dean of the St. Louis Cardinals shortly after joining the Braves in what had to be an exciting moment for both of the stars. Each looks excited at the encounter and photo opportunity while Ruth goes the extra mile and puts his arm around Dean. Taken off the original negative, the quality of this photograph is perfect. Photo has a crease on the lower portion but overall it presents well. It is hard to date New York Daily News photographs as they used this stamp for a number of years, but it dates to the mid-late 1940's and possibly the early 1950's at the latest making this a vintage example for sure, developed about 10-15 years after the original was taken.
