1932 photograph of banished and shamed 1919 White Sox player Oscar "Happy" Felsch toiling in a Milwaukee Sand Lot trying to hang onto the game he loved and lost for one more day. While much of the attention goes to Shoeless Joe Jackson, many of the Chicago "Black Sox" had no education or other skills to fall back on after their banishment from Baseball. Without money or other options, many took assumed names and caught on as Baseball Players at the lowest levels of the game. This beautiful image captures Oscar "Happy" Felsch who was one of the true stars of the 1919 White Sox, playing for a Billiard Hall Team in 1932 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In his last year in the Majors (1920) he had hit .338 and was one of the most feared hitters in the game to go with his prowess as one of the best defensive Center Fielders. The look on his face says it all. At the age of 40 he still had some game and with a slight change of fortunes he could have still been in the Major Leagues. Instead he is shamed and had to live with the decisions he made every time he stepped to the plate. Photograph is a poignant image of the consequences of the Black Sox Players which are rare to find since the public tried their best to forget the scandal ever happened! Condition and quality are great and photos rates a 10/10! Reverse has a full paper caption and stamps from NEA and Acme "Pacific and Atlantic". Rare Photo!
