A little known fact about Hall of Famer George Sisler from the St. Louis Browns is that he had to sit out the 1923 season (the prime of his career) with an eye injury. He was coming off one of the greatest hitting seasons in baseball history having just hit .420 and seemed to be ready to take the mantle of "greatest hitter in baseball" from Ty Cobb. Sisler would defy the odds and return to the game, but he was never to be the same player he was before. The offered image is a rare piece from his grand return to the game and one that displays exceptionally well.
