Every franchise has a beginning and every team a genesis and when it comes to the Los Angeles Rams of the current NFL, you are looking at the very first game they played in the National Football League! Having competed the year before in the AFL, the Rams made the jump to the big time in 1937 and were expecting big things. They were visited by the Detroit Lions on September 10 and the outcome was not good. Dutch Clark helped lead the Lions to an impressive 28-0 drubbing of the new franchise, but better days would lay ahead as less than eight years later they would win the NFL Championship. A rare photo (the only one we know of) shows Bill O'Neill of the Rams being tackled in the game. Issued by Acme and with a full paper caption on the back, this is a piece of NFL history that is being offered here for the first time ever!
