1926 Photograph of Cincinnati Reds Pitcher Carl Mays. A tragic figure in the game, he was responsible (accidently) for the death of Cleveland Indians Shortstop Ray Chapman in 1920 and has paid the price for it ever since with his exclusion from the Hall of Fame. One of the most dominant pitchers of his era, he would go 19-12 for the Reds in 1926. Due to his role in a tragic chapter in baseball history, Mays is rarely seen photographed after the incident in 1920 and images of him with the Reds are actually quite scarce. Issued by Acme and with a full paper caption on the back, the photo is detailed and bold with two small pinholes and a couple of light fold lines on the lower right corner.
