1961 Was a storybook year for Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris, but it could have been even better. Had Mantle's knee not forced him into limited action near the end of the season, we could have had two men break Babe Ruth's record of 60 homers. Here Mantle is seen on the ground in pain after fouling a ball off his leg and despite being in constant pain, he still managed to blast his 52nd homer of the season in this game. A rare image in really nice condition overall.
